Quick Summary

  • Use the SOAR framework: Situation, Options, Action, Reflection.
  • Practice structuring your answers with CasperCoach for instant feedback.
  • Include ethical reasoning, empathy, and professionalism in every response.
  • Review sample answers and record yourself for video practice.

The SOAR Framework

SOAR stands for:
  • Situation Analysis – Identify the key issue, stakeholders, and context.
  • Options Generation – List possible actions and their consequences.
  • Action Selection – Choose the best course and justify your reasoning.
  • Reflection & Follow-up – Consider long-term impact and next steps.

Sample Text Answer (SOAR)

Scenario: You witness a peer being unfairly treated by a supervisor.

Answer (SOAR):

  • S: The key issue is fairness and respect in the workplace. Stakeholders include the peer, supervisor, and team.
  • O: Options include addressing the supervisor directly, reporting to HR, or supporting the peer privately.
  • A: I would first speak privately with the peer to understand their perspective, then encourage open communication with the supervisor or HR if needed.
  • R: I would follow up to ensure the issue is resolved and reflect on how to foster a more inclusive environment.

Sample Video Answer

Tip: Practice recording yourself using the SOAR method. CasperCoach offers video practice and expert feedback.

Example: “In this scenario, I would first acknowledge the peer’s feelings and ensure they feel supported. I’d consider the options, such as speaking to the supervisor or HR, and choose the most respectful and effective course. After taking action, I’d reflect on how to prevent similar issues in the future.”

Pro Tips for High Scores

  • Always address all stakeholders and ethical considerations.
