USask Medicine CASPer Requirements 2027

The University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine requires all 2027-entry applicants to complete Casper 2, CSP-10211. The last accepted test date is September 10, 2026, and USask must be selected for score distribution by October 1, 2026. The AAMC ID on your CASPer record must match the ID in your medical-school application.

Is CASPer required for USask Medicine?

Yes. USask's official Applicant Information Document for the 2027 incoming class says all applicants must complete one of the available 2026 Undergraduate Medicine CASPer assessments to be eligible for admission consideration.

The required test is Casper 2, CSP-10211 Canadian Professional Health Sciences. USask states that no other Acuity assessment tools are required for its MD application in this cycle. Do not add Snapshot, Duet, or another product unless a different program on your list separately requires it.

What should you do before September 10?

September 10, 2026 is the last CASPer test date USask will consider for this application cycle. Because this article was published on September 7, the normal three-day booking lead time has already arrived. Availability and account verification can still control whether you are able to reserve the sitting.

1. Open the current Acuity Dates and Fees page immediately.
2. Choose the 2026-27 admissions cycle and Canadian Professional Health Sciences test.
3. Confirm Casper 2 and CSP-10211 before payment.
4. Enter the same AAMC ID used in your USask application.
5. Add the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine as a distribution destination.
6. Run the system check on the computer and network you will use.

If the September 10 sitting is unavailable, do not book a different test type and assume it will count. Contact Acuity about account or booking issues and USask about admissions consequences. Complete distribution by October 1

Taking CASPer and sending CASPer are separate steps. USask requires applicants to select University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine for score distribution before October 1, 2026. Scores distributed after the deadline will not be considered.

The same date is the application and $150 fee deadline at 11:59 p.m. CST, Saskatchewan time. Do not leave either action until the final hour. The university says a CASPer score may not be marked received until the initial file review is complete, potentially as late as December 1, 2026.

Make the AAMC ID match exactly

USask matches CASPer and MCAT records through the AAMC ID entered on the admission application. The 2027 guide says the AAMC ID on both score reports must match the application by the October 1 deadline. A mismatch causes the application to be coded incomplete and removed from further consideration.

Copy the ID from the same AAMC account into both systems, then compare every digit before submission. Do not treat this as an administrative detail that can be corrected after the deadline.

How does USask use the CASPer score?

USask describes CASPer as one possible criterion for selecting applicants for interview. Its current admissions page says the CASPer score, MCAT score and sections, University Academic Average, written personal statement, DSAAP index, and Saskatchewan or rural connectedness index could be used in that decision.

The reviewed 2027 Applicant Information Document does not publish a percentage weight or minimum CASPer quartile. It is therefore not responsible to turn an applicant's quartile into a guaranteed USask outcome. Meeting the mandatory test requirement also does not waive academic, citizenship, residency-history, or document rules.

What is the current CASPer format?

The standard 2026-27 CASPer assessment contains 11 scenarios in a fixed order: four video-response scenarios followed by seven typed- response scenarios. Each video scenario has two questions presented one at a time with one minute per recorded answer. Each typed scenario has two questions shown together with 3.5 minutes for both answers.

Acuity provides a 10-minute optional break after the video section and a five-minute optional break after the first four typed scenarios. The estimated total time is 65 to 85 minutes. Use the current CASPer format guide for the complete interface and timing walkthrough.

Can you reuse or retake CASPer?

USask says a CASPer result is valid only for the admissions cycle in which it was taken. Applicants who tested in a previous year must retake CASPer for 2027-entry consideration. Acuity permits one attempt per test type in a cycle, so the same test cannot be repeated after a disappointing result.

One current-cycle score can serve multiple programs only when they accept the same test type. Compare USask's CSP-10211 requirement with each destination before adding it. A focused plan for the September 10 sitting

Three days is not enough for a long preparation program, but it is enough to learn the interface, practise both response modes, and remove preventable technology problems. Do not try to memorize a script for every ethical topic.

1. Complete an official practice set. Learn exactly when prompts, reflection time, and response timers appear.
2. Use a compact reasoning scan. Identify the issue, stakeholders, missing facts, safe first action, and follow-up.
3. Record short video answers. Practise reaching a justified action within one minute without restarting.
4. Run typed pairs. Allocate the 3.5 minutes across both questions and move on when the timer ends.
5. Check the full setup. Test the browser, webcam, microphone, internet, room, and government ID.
6. Protect sleep and pacing. A rested, complete response is more useful than a late-night memorized script.

Common USask Medicine CASPer mistakes

• Confusing October 1 with the test date. September 10 is the final accepted sitting.
• Choosing a different CASPer type. USask specifies Casper 2, CSP-10211.
• Entering a mismatched AAMC ID. The application, MCAT, and CASPer records must agree.
• Taking the test without distributing it. Select USask by October 1 and save the report.
• Panicking over a delayed portal status. USask says initial receipt marking can take until December 1.
• Chasing an invented cutoff. USask publishes neither a minimum quartile nor percentage weight in the reviewed guide.
