How to Complete Western Engineering's CASPer Requirement

All Western Engineering OUAC applicants must complete Canada CASPer 1 (CSP-10200) for the 2026–27 admissions cycle. Register with your OUAC student identifier, choose an approved date, and select the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Engineering for distribution. Western says it will not make an offer until it receives your result.

Who has to complete the assessment?

Western's requirement applies to all OUAC applicants to Engineering in the 2026–27 admissions cycle. Do not infer an exemption from applicant type, admission average, an early application, or a prior CASPer result. Western also states that applicants may take CASPer only once per admissions cycle.

This is a faculty-specific requirement, not proof that every Western program uses CASPer. The Western University CASPer hubseparates Engineering from Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Education, and rehabilitation programs.

How do you register and send the result to Western?

1. Create or sign in to your Acuity Insights account.
2. Select Canada and the 2026–27 admissions cycle.
3. Choose Canada CASPer 1 (CSP-10200).
4. Enter your OUAC student identifier and use government-issued photo ID.
5. Select Engineering and an approved Western test date.
6. Add University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Engineering, for distribution before its deadline.
7. Save the reservation and distribution confirmation.

When should you take CASPer?

Take an approved sitting as early as your application plan reasonably allows. Western says results reach it about three weeks after the test and offers may begin as early as November. It also recommends registering at least three days before your preferred sitting so identity, payment, the system check, and the sample test are not left to the last minute.

The best date is not simply the last available one. Choose a sitting that leaves a buffer for account or technical problems and still gives you enough time for focused practice. The CASPer timing guideshows how to work backward from a program's distribution deadline.

Can Western offer admission before receiving the result?

Western's answer is direct: no offers will be given until results are received. That does not mean every applicant receives a decision three weeks after CASPer or that an early sitting guarantees an early offer. It means CASPer receipt is a gating application requirement.

What CASPer quartile do you need for Western Engineering?

Western does not publish a required quartile, cutoff, or percentage weighting on its current Engineering page. A Reddit post describing an admission average and quartile is one applicant's outcome, not a controlled admissions formula. It cannot show how other file elements, applicant pools, or yearly competition affected the decision.

Which test format should you prepare for?

Acuity's March 2026 guidance describes the standard 2026–27 assessment as 11 scenarios: four video-response scenarios followed by seven typed- response scenarios. Each scenario has two questions. Video responses allow one minute per answer; the two typed questions share 3.5 minutes. Acuity estimates 65–85 minutes including optional breaks.

Western's Engineering page still displays a 90–110 minute estimate. Treat Western as the authority for its admissions rule and Acuity as the authority for its live test interface. Complete the official practice test in your account, and review the current CASPer format before timing third-party drills.

How should an Engineering applicant prepare?

Prepare the same judgment and communication skills used across CASPer. There is no public Western Engineering question bank. Engineering- relevant practice can make reflection easier, but do not force technical jargon or invent a “Western answer style.”

• Explain how you would respond when safety, deadlines, and team pressure conflict.
• Ask for missing facts before blaming a teammate or escalating a concern.
• Distinguish a correctable mistake from misconduct or an immediate safety risk.
• Propose documentation, support, and follow-up instead of stopping at confrontation.
• Practise the same reasoning in concise typed and spoken formats.
