What Counts as a Good CASPer Score in 2026?

There is no universal “good” CASPer cutoff. Fourth quartile is the highest relative band, third quartile is the next band, and each admissions program decides how much weight to give the result. Your target should therefore be the strongest performance you can produce—not a made-up cutoff attributed to every school.

How CASPer quartiles work

Acuity groups applicant results into four quartiles to give you a general sense of how your responses compared with people taking the same test type. The result is relative: it depends on the strength of responses in your cohort. A small difference near a quartile boundary can also move an applicant from one band to another.

What applicants receive versus what programs receive

Your typed and video responses contribute to one combined CASPer result. Acuity sends results directly to the programs on your distribution list. Applicants later receive a quartile, but not the underlying numeric score or a question-by-question competency report.

That distinction matters when a preparation service gives you a score. A platform can provide a useful practice estimate, but it cannot recreate Acuity's confidential operational scoring or tell you your future official quartile with certainty.

How schools may use your CASPer result

Acuity says programs may use CASPer at different admissions stages, including early filtering, interview decisions, rankings, or offers. It also says most programs consider all quartiles and use CASPer as one data point among several. Those statements can both be true because every program controls its own process.

What score should you aim for?

Aim to make your reasoning as clear, balanced, and actionable as possible. A useful practice target is not merely a high estimated band; it is the ability to repeat strong behaviors across unfamiliar typed and video scenarios under the current timer.

1. Identify the central conflict and the affected people.
2. State what information you would gather before judging.
3. Choose a concrete action and explain why it is proportionate.
4. Add a contingency for what you would do if the situation changed.
5. Review patterns across several attempts instead of overreacting to one practice score.
