CASPer Distribution List: Add, Remove or Swap Programs
Your CASPer distribution list is the set of programs that will receive your result. Manage it from the Reservations section of your Acuity Insights account under Edit distribution(s). You can remove or swap a program only before you start the test. You can still add programs after the test if they accept scores and use the same test type. Removing a program never earns a refund.
What you can change, and when
Starting the test is the dividing line. This table combines Acuity's remove or swap article, add a program article and ID update article.
| Change | Before you start the test | After you start the test |
|---|---|---|
| Add a program | Yes, if its deadline has not passed. | Yes, if it is still accepting scores and uses the same test type. |
| Remove a program | Yes. No refund or credit is issued. | No. |
| Swap a program | Yes. You are prompted to add a replacement. | No. |
| Update an ID number | Yes, in your account or through support. | Acuity's article sets no test-day cutoff. Updates made through support reach your programs within 24 hours of being processed. |
How to remove or swap a program
These are the steps Acuity gives:
- Go to the Reservations section of your Acuity Insights account.
- Click Edit distribution(s).
- Choose Remove or Swap.
- Follow the on-screen steps to confirm.
Know the costs first. Acuity says all fees are non-refundable and that removing a program does not issue a refund or credit, even if you add it back later. Re-adding a removed program may mean paying distribution fees again. If you swap, you add the replacement as part of the same process.
If you cannot add the replacement during a swap, its distribution deadline may have passed. Program requirements also vary, so confirm the new program uses the same test type.
How to add a program
Acuity's steps for adding a program are:
- Log in and open the Reservations page.
- Click Edit distribution(s) under the Actions column.
- Select Add a new distribution. If you don't see it, Acuity suggests zooming out with Ctrl or Cmd and the minus key.
- Choose the programs and schools.
- Enter any extra ID numbers required.
- Review the details and pay.
If you add a program after the first two to three weeks, Acuity says your result goes to it within one business day. Our guide to sending CASPer scores covers planning your list and its costs.
Check your ID numbers
Some programs need a student or application ID to match your result to your application. Acuity says you must enter it before reserving or swapping, and that IDs are issued by programs or application portals such as OUAC or AAMC, usually after you apply. Replace any placeholder ID with the correct number.
To change an ID, open Account, then the IDs tab, and use the blue pencil icon. If there is no pencil, or the ID is for a program outside Canada, contact support with the ID name and the correct number.
If a program's deadline has passed
If “Add a new distribution” is missing, Acuity says a distribution deadline has likely passed for one or more programs. Deadlines are set by programs and may differ from admission deadlines, so check both on Acuity's Dates and Fees page and the program's own site.
Acuity's missed deadline article gives two routes:
- Canadian programs: contact Acuity support with the test date you missed, the programs affected, your reason and any supporting documents. Acuity then contacts the programs for you.
- Programs outside Canada: contact the program directly and ask about your options.
Either way, the program must confirm any exception directly with its Acuity representative. An email sent only to you is not enough. Acuity says exceptions are not guaranteed and are usually only granted in extenuating circumstances, such as medical or family emergencies. Once approved, results are sent manually within 24 hours, and distribution fees may apply. See what happens if you miss CASPer for more.
Before you change anything
This short check is our own suggestion, based on Acuity's fee and deadline rules:
- Confirm the program requires CASPer this cycle on its own admissions page.
- Match the test type and language. A program with a different test type or language needs a separate test.
- Check the distribution deadline as well as the application deadline.
- Have your IDs ready so you can finish the change in one go.
- Check the fee before you pay. Acuity lists per-program fees on its Dates and Fees page, and they are not refunded if you pick the wrong program.
- Make final removals well before your test. Once you begin, the option is gone.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a CASPer distribution list?+
It is the list of programs that receive your CASPer result. Acuity sends results directly to those programs, usually two to three weeks after your test.
Can I remove a program from my CASPer distribution list after the test?+
No. Acuity says you can remove or swap a program only if you have not started your test. Once you begin, that option is no longer available.
Do I get a refund if I remove a program?+
No. Acuity says removing a program does not issue a refund or credit, even if you add it back later, and re-adding it may cost additional distribution fees.
Can I add a school to my CASPer list after the test?+
Yes, if the program is still accepting scores and requires the same test type. If you add it after the first two to three weeks, Acuity says your result goes to it within one business day.
Why can't I add a program to my CASPer list?+
Acuity says the distribution deadline has likely passed for one or more programs. Check its Dates and Fees page. Trying to zoom out can also help if the button is simply off screen.
Can I add a program after its distribution deadline?+
Only as an exception, which is not guaranteed. The program must approve it directly with Acuity. Contact Acuity support for Canadian programs, or the program itself for those outside Canada.
