DPT Programs That Require CASPer: 2026–27 US List
For the 2026–27 cycle, Acuity lists fifteen US physical therapy program entries that use CASPer, at fourteen schools including East Carolina, Northern Arizona, Wayne State, Western Michigan and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. All use United States Casper 2. CASPer is booked and sent through Acuity, separately from your PTCAS application, so you need to add each program to your Acuity distribution list yourself.
US physical therapy programs that require CASPer
These schools appear under Physical Therapy on Acuity's Dates and Fees page for the United States, 2026–27:

- Georgia Southern University
- Indiana State University
- Northern Arizona University
- Tennessee State University
- University of Indianapolis

Amarillo College's physical therapy assistant program is also listed, but under United States Casper 1, the undergraduate test. Lists can change during a cycle, so confirm on each program's admissions page before you book.
Which CASPer test to book for DPT
Acuity's test-type guide says applicants to US professional health sciences programs select United States Casper 2. All fifteen DPT entries above use it (CSP-20100). US physician assistant, occupational therapy, dental, pharmacy and veterinary programs on Acuity's list use the same test, so one sitting can go to all of them if you are applying across professions.
A score is valid for one cycle and one test type, and each test type can be taken only once per cycle. For how this differs from undergraduate tests, see CASPer 1 vs CASPer 2.
Timing your CASPer with PTCAS
CASPer runs on Acuity's platform, not PTCAS. You reserve a test, choose a date, and add programs to your distribution list. Acuity's results article says results are sent to programs about 2 to 3 weeks after your test, and programs you add later receive results within one business day. You will not get an email when results are sent; your Acuity account shows “Results delivered”.
Practical rule: take CASPer at least three weeks before your earliest program's deadline, and make sure your name and details match your PTCAS application so programs can match your result. See how long CASPer results take and the best time to write CASPer.
Applying to Canadian PT programs too?
Canadian physiotherapy programs use a Canadian Casper 2 test, and results cannot move between countries. If you apply to programs in both countries, you need two tests. Our Canadian physiotherapy CASPer guide covers those programs, and UBC's requirements include its Master of Physical Therapy.
How DPT applicants should prepare
- Learn the format first. Acuity's format guide describes 1 minute per video question and 3.5 minutes for each pair of typed questions. Take the official practice test.
- Use your observation hours. Clinic experience gives real examples for reflection prompts about teamwork, patient frustration or your own mistakes. Try the self-awareness prompts.
- Practise motivation and resilience. PT involves long-term patient relationships and setbacks. The resilience workbook fits well.
- Time your typing. Typed answers are tight; see CASPer typing speed.
