The gap between the two stages explains a common worry: your account can say results are delivered while you still have no quartile. That is the normal order. Our guide to CASPer result statuses explains each label you may see.

Why CASPer results take weeks

CASPer is rated by people, not marked by a machine. According to Acuity's scoring explanation, each rater is assigned one scenario and reads many applicants' responses to it, and no rater scores the same applicant more than once. Each question is scored on its own, the ratings are averaged, and the result is standardized against the applicant pool. That comparison needs a large set of rated responses, which takes time.

There is no paid or expedited option. The one thing you control is your test date.

What you receive and what programs receive

Acuity's score disclosure article says applicants do not receive their CASPer score. Programs receive the score, and each decides how to use it. You receive a quartile, which places you in one of four relative bands. Neither comes with a breakdown by question or topic.

How to check your results

1. Delivery to programs: log in to your Acuity Insights account, open Reservations and read your test status. “Results pending” means processing; “Results delivered” means sent.
2. Your quartile: watch for Acuity's email, then use the “View quartile score” link on your completed test. Check the inbox for the email address on your Acuity account.
3. A school still shows nothing: programs can take extra time to update their systems. Make sure your name, ID numbers, date of birth and email match your application, then contact the program.

Planning your test date around the wait

Programs set their own CASPer deadlines, and Acuity lists the final test date and score distribution deadline for each program on its Dates and Fees page. Use those published dates rather than working forwards from a typical processing time.

1. Find the earliest final test date among the programs you are applying to.
2. Book a sitting before it with slack. A rebooking after illness or a technical failure is much easier with an earlier date in hand.
