Official CASPer Practice Test: Access, Timing and Next Steps

Updated By Mahad Farooq · Founder, CasperCoach

The official CASPer practice test is in your Acuity Insights account. Use it to become comfortable with the test interface and response clock. It does not provide a score or feedback, so finishing the rehearsal should lead to a specific practice decision rather than a guess about your quartile.

Go to the official practice resource

Start with Acuity Insights' preparation instructions, then open the Casper area of your Acuity account. Sign in there using your Acuity details.

CasperCoach is an independent practice service. It does not operate the official assessment or receive its results.

Where to find the official CASPer practice test

Acuity directs applicants to the Casper area of their account for the free rehearsal and says it can be repeated. Its preparation guidance also recommends completing the system check with your intended test setup at least three days beforehand. Follow the instructions in your account for the test you reserved.

If you land on a sign-in screen, that is different from an error inside the practice test. Confirm you are on Acuity's own site before entering credentials. If access still fails, use Acuity support rather than buying another resource to solve an account problem. Our CASPer login guide helps distinguish account access from test-day entry.

For your rehearsal, set up the space you can realistically use on test day. Put the laptop at a stable height, check that your voice is understandable, and remove interruptions you can control. A beautifully arranged room is less useful than a dependable setup you have already tried.

How long is the official CASPer practice test?

The official rehearsal is intended to mirror your test experience. The 2026–2027 format guide lists the standard assessment as 65–85 minutes: four video-response scenarios, then seven typed-response scenarios. Each has two questions. Video answers allow one minute each; typed pairs share 3.5 minutes.

Australian teacher education uses a shorter eight-scenario format, estimated at 45–65 minutes. Check the format attached to your reservation and any approved accommodations. See the Australian teacher format guide if that applies to you.

Reserve additional time before the session for setup and afterward for a short debrief. Do not squeeze a full rehearsal into a gap that forces you to stop halfway. If you only have a few minutes, a short CASPer practice set is a more manageable task; schedule the full interface rehearsal separately.

A before, during and after checklist

The checklist below is a CasperCoach study routine. It helps you separate a technical problem, a timing problem and a reasoning problem so your next session has a purpose.

Before: choose one thing to observe

  • Setup: can you sit comfortably and speak clearly without adjusting equipment during an answer?
  • Timing: do you leave enough time to answer the second typed question?
  • Reasoning: can you explain why you chose an action, even when the situation feels unfamiliar?

Pick one primary observation. Trying to perfect every sentence, monitor posture, count words and watch the timer simultaneously can make the rehearsal harder to interpret. You want to notice a repeatable difficulty, not collect every possible criticism.

During: practise moving forward

Follow the interface instructions and finish each response as best you can. If an answer feels awkward, return your attention to the next question. For a rehearsal of test-day pacing, work through the session without looking up sample answers or asking someone to improve your response while the clock runs.

People sometimes ask whether they can pause the practice test. Controls may differ from what you expect; use the instructions actually shown in your account. Do not assume a practice control means you can pause a live response. If an interruption prevents a useful rehearsal, arrange another uninterrupted session rather than treating the interrupted run as evidence of your usual pace.

After: write a process note

Record the difficulty in terms of your behavior, without copying assessment content. “I gave a long introduction and rushed the second answer” is actionable. “I am terrible at CASPer” is too broad to guide the next attempt. Add one change you can test on a fresh exercise and a way to notice whether it worked.

Example debrief: I spent most of the typed clock explaining the background. Next time I will begin with my decision and its reason. I will check whether both answers contain a usable next step before adding more context.

Does the official practice test give feedback or a score?

No. Acuity says practice responses are not saved or submitted for review or feedback. See its official preparation page. You should not expect a practice score report afterward.

For detailed answer review, use a separate original practice prompt whose response you can keep. Read the question again, underline your actual decision, and identify the sentence that explains it. Then compare that evidence with a sample or a reviewer's comment. Our practice-answer review guide walks through this process with a complete before-and-after example.

A feeling of fluency is useful to notice but does not establish answer quality. You may have spoken smoothly while avoiding the decision. Equally, a brief stumble does not tell you that your reasoning was poor. Review the substance of an independent response instead of assigning yourself a quartile based on how the rehearsal felt.

Choose a next step that matches the difficulty

  • You missed part of the question: try a fresh typed pair and summarize each question's task before starting.
  • You ran out of time: use the timing recovery guide and compare how much time you give each answer.
  • You stayed vague: try a fairness scenario and name the person, criterion and next step in your decision.
  • You struggled to speak clearly: use video-response practice to rehearse one concise explanation at a time.
  • You had a technical issue: resolve it through the system check and appropriate support before another full rehearsal.

You do not need to turn every practice sitting into a bigger workload. Repeat a focused exercise when it gives you information, then return to mixed practice to see whether the change holds without a theme label.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is CasperCoach the official CASPer practice test?+

No. The official rehearsal is provided by Acuity Insights in its applicant account. CasperCoach supplies independent practice exercises and AI feedback.

Can I repeat the official practice test?+

Acuity permits repeated practice sessions. A useful repeat has a specific purpose, such as becoming comfortable with the interface or checking your pacing; familiarity with an answer is not proof that the skill transfers.

Should I wait for a practice result before preparing again?+

No practice result is provided. Use a short note about your timing or setup, then review a separate original exercise if you need answer-specific feedback.

Do I need paid preparation to use the official rehearsal?+

No. Acuity provides its own free preparation resources and does not endorse third-party preparation courses. Independent practice is an optional choice, not an official requirement.
