U of T CASPer Requirements 2026-27: Which Programs Need It

Updated By Mahad Farooq · Founder, CasperCoach

For the 2026–2027 admissions cycle, three University of Toronto programs require CASPer: Dentistry (DDS), Occupational Therapy (MScOT) and Pharmacy (PharmD). All three use Casper 2, Acuity's Canadian health-professions test (CSP-10211). The U of T MD program does not require CASPer. This guide lists every U of T program we checked, what each requires alongside CASPer, and how to book the right test.

U of T programs and CASPer at a glance

On October 23, 2026 we read Acuity Insights' public Dates & Fees page for Canada and selected every English-language program type. University of Toronto appeared three times, all under Casper 2: Dentistry, Occupational Therapy and Pharmacy. No U of T program appeared under the Canada Casper 1 test. We then checked each program's own admissions page.

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)Required: Casper 2Also requires the DAT by the November 1 application deadline. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed in February.
Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MScOT)Required: Casper 2Applied through ORPAS with a résumé, two references and two written personal submission responses.
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)Required: Casper 2Final valid test date and ID steps are covered in our separate PharmD guide.
Doctor of Medicine (MD)Not listedUses MCAT thresholds, brief personal essays, an autobiographical sketch and references.
Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MScPT)Not on Acuity's 2026–27 listConfirm current non-academic requirements on the department page before applying.
Speech-Language Pathology (MHSc)Not on Acuity's 2026–27 listConfirm with the department; other Ontario SLP programs, such as Western's, do require CASPer.

“Not on Acuity's list” means the program did not appear on the Dates & Fees page for this cycle. That is strong evidence it does not use CASPer, but requirements can change, so always confirm with the program itself.

U of T Dentistry (DDS)

The Faculty of Dentistry's DDS admissions page tells applicants to complete the Canadian version of the Casper 2 test through Acuity Insights and have the official score sent directly to the faculty. It describes Casper as an online test of non-cognitive skills and interpersonal characteristics that complements its other screening tools, and says results are valid for one admissions cycle only, so previous-year scores must be retaken.

Alongside CASPer, applicants must write the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) by the November 1 application deadline; the faculty uses the Academic Average and Perceptual Ability sections. The page says it interviews roughly 180 applicants each year, with a 20-minute interview with two faculty members in February. You can write Casper 2 on any test date Acuity lists for U of T. For broader context, see CASPer for dental school.

U of T Occupational Therapy (MScOT)

The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy's application procedure page lists the Casper test among the required non-academic materials, together with a résumé, an academic and a professional reference with confidential assessment forms, and two written personal submission responses. Applications go through ORPAS, Ontario's rehabilitation sciences application service. The department describes Casper as a test of what you would do in a tough situation and, more importantly, why.

The page said applications for September 2026 entry had closed and a new cycle for September 2027 entry would open in fall 2026, so check it for the current deadlines. Applicants to several OT programs can often use one Casper 2 sitting for all of them; see CASPer for occupational therapy for other schools.

U of T Pharmacy (PharmD)

The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy has a dedicated Casper page for its entry-to-practice PharmD. Our separate guide, U of T Pharmacy CASPer requirements, covers the final valid test date, the placeholder applicant ID you can use if you test before applying, and the faculty's statement that Duet is not required.

U of T Medicine (MD): no CASPer

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine's MD program does not require CASPer. Its non-academic requirements are brief personal essays, an autobiographical sketch and statement, and references, assessed against professional, communicator and advocate clusters based on the CanMEDS framework. The academic side includes an MCAT threshold. U of T is one of eight Canadian MD programs without a CASPer requirement this cycle; see Canadian medical schools that don't require CASPer.

If you are applying to U of T Medicine and also to McMaster or Queen's, you still need CASPer for those schools. See our McMaster and Queen's guides.

A note on the Michener Institute

The Michener Institute of Education at UHN is a separate institution in Toronto that partners with U of T on some programs. On Acuity's 2026–27 list it appears on its own, under Casper 2, for programs including Cardiovascular Perfusion, Chiropody, Genetics Technology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Respiratory Therapy and Ultrasound. If you are applying to Michener, check its program pages directly. Our allied health and college programs guide covers similar programs across Canada.

How to book the right CASPer test for U of T

  1. Choose Casper 2 (CSP-10211). All three U of T programs that require CASPer use it. Acuity notes that the old Canada Professional Health Sciences test (CSP-10201) is now named Casper 2.
  2. Pick the right cycle. Select the 2026–2027 admissions cycle. Acuity says scores are valid for one admissions cycle and one test type.
  3. Pick a date U of T accepts. Each program lists accepted dates on Acuity's Dates & Fees page. Book early; Acuity recommends registering at least three days before your preferred date.
  4. Add every program to your distribution list. One Casper 2 sitting can go to Dentistry, OT and Pharmacy, and to other Canadian health programs, if the dates are accepted by each.
  5. Match your details. Use the same name and email as on your applications so schools can match your score.

For step-by-step instructions, see how to register for CASPer and how to send CASPer scores.

How to prepare for CASPer for U of T programs

The test is the same Casper 2 regardless of which U of T program you apply to: video and typed scenarios about everyday situations, rated by trained human raters. Start with Acuity's free official practice test to learn the interface, then practise timed scenarios and review your reasoning. Useful starting points:
